Some artworks call for a creative and collaborative approach when it comes to their framing and presentation. For Gagosian Gallery‘s recent Glenn Brown solo show at Frieze 2015 we were asked to create a curved picture frame to match a rounded rectangular piece, ‘Drawing 23 (After Rubens)’.
A lathe was used to create the profile of the four corner pieces which were then broken apart and hand-finished to match the profile of the straight sections, creating a beautiful transition between the components and a radially concentric frame to marry the artwork.
The frame is made from American Black Walnut, and was given a Dark Oak Stain, and hand wax to finish.
