Darbyshire is pleased to announce a design collaboration between Mark Darbyshire and Jyll Bradley: The Friendship Bench, which brings together traditional cabinet making skills and the more cerebral disciplines associated with art fabrication. If you like a thought rendered real by the process of craft, this solid Douglas fir bench incorporates a c-type photograph with a green fluorescent plexi cover.
The Friendship Bench comes in an edition of three. £5400 + VAT.
The bench project came about to mark the opening of Jyll’s solo show The friend I have/is a passionate friend at Mummery & Schnelle Gallery, this Thursday, September 4th, 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
The Friendship Bench celebrates the continued collaboration between Jyll and Mark as artist and fabricator respectively on major projects this year – Green/Light (for M.R.) for The Folkestone Triennial and the forthcoming Le Jardin Hospitalier, a major public art work for University Hospital, Lille, France.

Jyll Bradley’s wide-ranging practice encompasses photographic light-box works, drawing, text and audio. At the core of Bradley’s work is an approach to identity, which is fluid and mutable rather than prescribed or fixed. A process-lead exploration of ‘place’ is also key to her practice.
